EBIO was presented by project coordinator, Roman Tschentscher, and Phd Candidate, Elisabeth K. Oehl, in several posters at the EUBCE 2024, hosted in Marseille, France, 24 – 27 June 2024. The poster abstracts are as follows:
Electrocatalytic Kraft Lignin Conversion in Industrial Black Liquor
Modern pulp mills are highly optimised biorefineries. This optimisation enables to use some of lignin containing black liquor for the production of phenolic platform chemicals and fuels. In this work we present strategies for electrochemical depolymerisation of lignin dissolved in black liquor. Strategies for separation of phenolic intermediates and process integration into Kraft pulp mills are discussed.
Catalytic Glucose Oxidation Applying Electrochemically Produced Green Oxidants
We present the catalytic oxidation of glucose into gluconic acid applying a supported gold catalyst and peroxydicarbonate(PODIC) as green, electrochemically produced oxidation agent. In comparison to other oxidation agents, PODIC has the oxidation potential producing gluconic acid with high selectivity and conversion rate. Options for process scale up and continuous operation including in-situ oxidant production will be discussed.
Electrochemical Upgrading of Lignin-Based Biomass for Aromatic Fine Chemicals and Biofuel Production
Update on the EBIO H2020 project: Focus lays on the research on electrochemical conversion of lignin-based biomass.
